10 Years of #tabiyo294: A Q&A with YF & Shuuhuahua

10 Years of #tabiyo294: A Q&A with YF & Shuuhuahua

Q1: How did you two first meet, and how did you feel when YF first approached you for this collaboration?

  • Shu: "We’ve known each other since I started consigning with her back in 2024, when YF began stocking some of my riso prints. We met for the first time this year, when she reached out about collaborating. I was excited!"

  • YF: "I’ve been a huge fan of Risograph printing for a long time—it’s actually the main reason we love Mizushima’s products so much! When planning our 10th-anniversary project, Shu immediately came to mind. She’s one of the rare local artists who frequently works with Risograph, and I’ve always adored her distinctive art style. I just felt in my heart that she was the one for this milestone."

Q2: Where do you usually draw your creative inspiration from?

  • Shu: "Observation."

Q3: Looking back over the 10 years at #tabiyo294, what has been the most meaningful part of sharing your shop with the stationery community?

  • YF: "We feel so fortunate and grateful to have a physical space where we can connect with stationery lovers from all over the world! A major turning point for us was becoming an official TRAVELER'S COMPANY Partner Shop in 2020. Since then, #tabiyo294 has truly become a sanctuary where our family home upstairs and our shop downstairs come together to welcome our community."

Q4: What has been your greatest satisfaction in working on this 10th-anniversary project with Tabiyo?

  • Shu: "Drawing pencils and drawers."

Q5: What are you most excited for customers to experience when they sit down at the DIY insert station this October?

  • YF: "I personally love mixing and matching different paper textures and colors when making my own TRAVELER'S notebook inserts—it makes the journaling experience so much more tactile and dynamic! I'm so excited for our community to try this for themselves, and when paired with Shu's beautiful cover, everyone will walk away holding a truly meaningful piece of our 10th anniversary in their hands."

Q6: Is there a specific detail on these Risograph covers that you hope people notice when they hold their completed notebook?

  • Shu: "This is our first Risograph-printed journal cover collection, so I hope it adds another layer of texture to your daily journaling routine. There’s a little something hidden in there too—but shh… it’s only fun if you discover it on your own!"

Q7: Looking ahead to the next 10 years, what do you hope Tabiyo will continue to be for the community?

  • YF: "I hope Tabiyo remains a quiet, comforting stop for anyone on their creative or everyday journey—a place where people can slow down, discover fine stationery, and feel connected. Whether through our online store or right here at #tabiyo294, we just want to keep sharing the simple joy of analog recording and building beautiful memories together with all of you."
